Why I started this website

When I created RPG Game Find over 12 years ago, my desire was to help connect other gamers together. My belief is that more people would play RPG table top games (or any games for that matter) if they could only FIND them in their local area. Back then I was desperate to find a game, any game, it didn’t matter if it was Dungeons and Dragons or not, I just wanted to play something. I did all the “right” things, I went to game shops and looked on the outdated cork bulletin boards, I joined meetup, I searched online and came up empty handed. I decided then and there that there had to be a better way to find a game. So I created this website.

I launched Jan 2009 and steadily improved the site and here is a link to the first version of the website:

Over the years I tried to update the site, make it better, streamline it. Unfortunately, life got in the way and my pet project got pushed to the back burner. I got a friend to take over for awhile and continue to work on the site, and he did the best he could, however since this website is all free, all the expenses came out of my pocket. I couldn’t afford to keep up on the maintenance or the hosting costs. The website fell by the wayside. I’m sorry to everyone who had posted on the site and to everyone in the community. I know that I let you all down and I am very very sorry.

I’m still committed to making this site the final destination for connecting gamers together. I’m in a much better place now and have the means to keep the site up and running, however if anyone has any suggestions or want to help in any way, I’m certainly not going to turn anyone away.

I know it will take some time for the website to reach the popularity where it was in the past and to gain your trust back. I’m committed to putting in that time and doing everything I can to make this website a success again and earn your trust. All I ask is help spread the word again. The more people know about the site and use it the faster it will grow.
